- Devonport Memories - photographic display of Devonport in the 1930's, Devonport Library, Windsor Reserve

Sat 4th - Sun 5th Sept - Victoria Theatre Open Days - A peak preview inside the Historic Places Trust classified 1912 Victoria Picture Palace and Theatre, the oldest purpose-built cinema in the southern hemisphere. Due to re-open on October 26 this year, these half-hour tours of the Victoria will be followed by a short documentary of its history. Proceeds to the Victoria Theatre Trust. Sat 4th Sept - North Shore Croquet Club Open Day - 1pm to 4pm (rain day, Sunday, 5 Sept), at 1 Wairoa Road, Devonport. A have-a-go day to share the history of the Club and promote the game of croquet. Free entry, children welcome.

From Sat 4th Sept - Devonport Through Artists’ Eyes - at The Depot 28 Clarence Street, Devonport. A quirky collection of Devonport artworks put together for North Shore Heritage Week by the Devonport Museum and The Depot.

Sat 4th Sept - Tours of Fort Victoria - open to the public with thanks to the Fort Victoria Trust & 1st Devonport Scouts. Come and see inside the tunnels at the top of Mt Victoria! 11-3pm, free

Fri 3rd - Sun 5th Sept - Kennedy Park WWII Battery, Castor Bay - A first for the North Shore City Heritage Festival and a rare opportunity to visit and explore the 64th Battery 9th Regiment and tunnels built hastily at Castor Bay in 1940. There will also be a display with photographs, maps, plans and memoirs of life at the battery from 1940 – 1945. Torches are required and if raining, gumboots please. When Friday 3, Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 Sept 10.00am – 5.00pm (Rain date: The tunnel’s opening is dependant on weather conditions as

Sat 12th Sept - Golden Weather: Life & Work of Bruce Mason. ….a celebration of the life and work of Takapuna’s famous son and a leading force in the development of professional theatre in New Zealand. Featuring writers Gordon McLauchlan, Christine Cole Catley, Roger Hall, biographer Richard Corballis and theatre director Colin McColl in a discussion about different aspects of Mason's life and work. There will be a reading from his seminal work Awatea, by leading actors from the Auckland Theatre Company, including George Henare, Te Kohe Tuhaka and Rima Te Wiata.

Sun 12th Sept - Motutapu Island - WWII Gun Emplacements and the History of Home Bay. Two guided tours onto Motutapu:

(1) A two-hour guided walking tour of the amazing WWII military sites on the sacred island of Motutapu. View pillboxes, observation posts, gun emplacements, underground magazines, radar and wireless rooms and a rare opportunity to journey the underground tunnels to see the gun battery’s underground plotting rooms. Afternoon tea will be served in the 1900s Reid Homestead. Reasonable fitness and sturdy footwear required. Bring a torch, food and water.
(2) Special sailing to the ‘sacred’ island of Motutapu with a gentle guided walk around historic Home Bay. Hear stories of the original Maori inhabitants and the early European settlers and imagine life in the 1900s Reid Homestead, where afternoon tea and scones will be served. Bring food and water.

Catch 9.25 ferry from Devonport Wharf, tickets for each event $30 adults, $11.25 children inc ferry. Must be booked in advance.

Sun 19th Sept - 125 Years at North Head - Celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Barracks Building at the summit of North Head. Organised by DoC RNZ Artillery Band will play from 2-3pm, including Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. The North Head Gun will be fired at 2.50pm ! Guided Walks, children's discovery trail etc. Entry free 12-4pm.

24th - 25th Sept - Shore Is Magic! - family comedy magic show features performances by some of the top magicians in New Zealand, ventriloquism, illusions, special guest performers, and will be hosted by a comedian. Join us for a family-friendly show of comedy, magic and fun! At The Rose Theatre, Belmont. Friday Sept 24th 7:30pm, Saturday September 25th 1pm, 4pm and 7:30pm. Details at www.scmc.co.nz

Sat 9th Oct - Navy Base Open Day - Open Day from 10-4pm - closing with ceremonial beat retreat in Windsor Reserve - Sunday Church Service and cake cutting - impact close to Navy 69 Birthday and piggy backing from the opening of the Navy Museum.
