New to Devonport? Click here useful contacts & information

I am here to work with community members, groups, and organizations, and to help them in any way I can:

  • to work with individuals/groups/organizations to help them identify their needs, gain access to resources, and meet their needs
  • to link community groups so they can share resources and help each other
  • to be an advocate for the community
  • to plan community activities, such as Families in Parks events, Preschool Mornings, Kid's Fishing Day, Summer Athletics, etc
  • to facilitate the Devonport Youth Forum and support ongoing youth initiatives such as Small Day Out and Devonstock.

Families in Parks Events (all free)

  • Pre-School Mornings
This is a fun time for pre-schoolers to play with lots of toys (which we supply) and for parents to meet each other. Bring a cup of coffee and enjoy our park by the sea. Upcoming dates: November 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, December 2nd & 7th all at Windsor Reserve at 9:30-11:00am (cancelled if raining)
  • Athletics
4-10 year olds have fun with athletic challenges such as high jumps, long jumps, sprint races, and novelty races. There will be competitive events and certificates on the final night. Food and drinks for sale. Next session: February 2010.
  • Youth Concerts
Join us for a series of concerts given by local youth bands at the Band Rotunda behind the library. A great family event.

Devonport Community eNews
If you want to receive our monthly eNews of art, music and community events, please email me at dportcomm@xtra.co.nz and I will put you on my database. If you are organizing a community event, please send me the information soon and I will put it in the next eNews.

New Residents Coffee/Wine
These are on the first Monday of the month (not in January or February) and are held at the Devonport Community House on Clarence Street. The morning tea starts at 10am, the evening drinks at 7pm. They are an opportunity to meet other newcomers, and to have questions answered about preschools, clubs, and many other aspects of Devonport life.

Devonport Youth Forum
Any High School student is welcome at these monthly meetings. They are a place where young people can share views and ideas. We often meet at the Depot Artspace on Clarence Street. We serve pizza and sort drinks. Members of the Youth Forum have initiated some of our community events, such as Small Day Out and Devonstock.

The Devonport Community Board has recently voted that a representative from this Youth Forum can attend one meeting a month. The Youth will have speaking rights, but not voting rights and will report back to the Youth Forum, Takapuna Grammar and the Shore Youth Forum. If you are interested in coming, please email me or call 445 9533.

Community Network Meetings
Our quarterly Community Network Meetings are a great opportunity for representatives from community groups, schools, preschools, businesses, sport clubs, etc. to get together and share information with each other. Meetings are held at the Devonport library.
